Infrastructure was the clear winner in this year’s Union Budget. Construction companies can garner greater benefits with timely strategic investments and play an enabling part in the India growth story.
There were many positive announcements made during this year’s Union Budget as far as the infrastructure sector is concerned. The biggest takeaway from the Budget was that the Budget focused on high impact areas and on accelerating the capital expenditure cycle by providing for a sharp increase in Capex outlay by 35.4% (from INR 5.54 lakh crores to INR 7.50 lakh crores in FY 2022-23), which is likely to strongly augment infrastructure spend. This announcement will have a multiplier effect on the core sectors like steel and cement. The Budget has also revoked the Countervailing Duty and Anti-Dumping Duty on stainless steel, coated steel, bars of alloy steel, and high-speed steel, which is slated to provide immediate relief to the steel industry amid rising metal prices in recent times. I believe this is going to be a huge advantage for construction companies like us.
The government has put a major thrust on public-private partnership with a view to successfully implementing initiatives such as National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) and National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP). With the Gati Shakti National Master Plan projected to lay the foundation for big private investments in infrastructure development, we are quite bullish about the incredible opportunities that are waiting to be tapped for construction companies. As a leading smart logistics park developer, I am also quite optimistic about the boost this will give to our markets through the prospective contracts, which are going to be awarded in 2022-23 for the implementation of Multimodal Logistics Parks at 4 locations through PPP mode.
In all, it’s a forward-looking budget resting on key pillars of growth – Digitization, Urban Development, and Sustainability. Steelion is aptly aligned with the government’s vision for inclusive development, resting on the three tenets of development – Technology, Eco-expanse, and Cost-Effectiveness. Bringing new-age advancements in the prefab market, Steelion is well placed to shape the future of prefab buildings in the country.
